Nectarous & Sophisticated

Tasting Notes:

Subtle, sweet, and sophisticated - this esteemed organic assam is from the Banaspaty Estate in Northeast India. Rich honey notes emerge from the amber liquor, with malty undertones far more subtle than a traditional assam tea. Also less astringent than traditional assam, the smooth sweet character of these slightly larger leaves deliver a clean brew with less tannin. Easy to brew up properly, this tea produces a consistently blissful cup that will transport you to India's Assam Valley.

Black Tea

  • Anti-Oxidant, Anti-Aging
  • Calorie-free, Fat-free, Gluten-free
  • Black Tea is known to banish fatigue, stimulate mental powers, and raise energy levels. It has been shown to reduce stress hormone levels and acts as a nerve sedative, frequently relieving headaches. Black tea contains a number of vitamins considered essential for maintaining health, including Carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, has antioxidant and protective properties, Vitamin B1 and Panothenic Acid, Vitamin C and Vitamin B6.

Black Tea also contains antioxidants which may help to protect your body from the ravages of aging and environmental effects. Because they are allowed to ferment completely before drying, most black teas are especially rich in those polyphenols which have been shown to be effective against dementia in aging as well as AIDS related dementia. These compounds penetrate the blood brain barrier and have also been found to reduce blood cholesterol levels.

Black tea is known for its antiviral and antibacterial properties. It can be topically applied to cuts, bruises and burns, and is famous for its sunburn relief and has been shown to have a positive effect on preventing tooth decay and gum disease.

Mild and extremely smooth, my new favorite black tea!—Brooke
I have become a huge fan of Assam tea and The Tea Spot has the best one I've tried. I drink it for comfort, and I drink it to wake me up. It's my go-to tea.—Skas
This is my favorite tea. It has a slight honeysuckle taste and is very smooth with no bitterness. Because of the honeysuckle flavor I also sweeten it with a bit of honey. I've started drinking this in the morning instead of coffee and now I don't drink coffee at all.—Rob
I tried the non-organic assam and this one... both are very good but this one has a fuller, more complex flavor. I always try the organic option now & I'm always pleased.—gina
I have a handful of varieties in my cupboard, and I hate to be without any of them, but this is a real go to staple every single day.—regi
I'm a 'Black tea' person and this one without a doubt is my favorite! One cup in the morning makes my day!—rick
I combine this Assam - 2 parts to 1 part - with the Lapsang Souchong (smoky), cloves, cardamom pods, star anise, and vanilla bean + sweetener and coconut milk as a riff on Thai restaurant-style tea. It is WONDERFUL, and a relief to recreate this enjoyable drink organically, without artificial colors. I find myself gravitating toward this deep tea mix in lieu of my typical coffee, and enjoying it so very much. —Michelle in CA
I blend this with dark roast Oolong in a tea ball. I get 2(8oz.) cups of full, smoooth tea. Just love it.—Regina
I also prefer the taste of the organic. it's full bodied. For those of you finding it bitter, you're brewing it too long.—Gina
This tea smells and tastes earthy. Not really to my liking.—Tea Lover
I tasted this side by side with another Indian black tea (Organic New Moon Darjeeling) and found this tea to be everything that I felt was lacking in the Darjeeling. I found it to contain a fair amount of tannins, but pleasingly so to produce a rich cup of beautiful red-colored tea. I found it earthy and detected a cedar wood like taste that I really enjoyed. I am hoping to make this a predominant varietal in one of my next kombucha tea blends. —Erica B.
This is a quality, smooth tea, but its not for me. I prefer more mild flavors. But, if you like black tea, by all means try it!—Monica
Although it's not a "strong" brew, there is never any bitterness even when I forget and leave the tea-ball in there for 10 minutes! This is an easy-drinking tea. When I want more "bite" I go for the Russian Caravan.—VN
This tea is fantastic! It is rich, smooth and perfect for anytime of day. One of my favorites.—Hthorn
This makes a great morning tea, love the taste.—Randi
This tea will appeal to those who like a very strong, bitter black tea. I am unfortunately not one of those people. If you like the Tea Spot's Russian Caravan blend, you might like this. —Jen
This is a very good Assam, though not the very best I have had. —Mach
I got a sample of this with my last order and loved it! It's much smoother than the other assam, and has a very malty aroma!—Elise
So, I've been trying so hard to kick my coffee habit, because of the jitters it gives me. It's been very, very difficult, since I love coffee! I've tried so many breakfast teas, none satisfying as my coffee ritual. That is until now, this Assam is fantastically smooth, I add a touch of half n half, along raw raspberry cream honey= a heavenly morning! Our family also enjoys the traditional Assam as well.—Katie Jester
This is a very soft Assam. If you love the classic (super strong and malty) Assam stick with that. The Tea Spot offers a classic Assam as well as this one which is pretty sweet and mild in comparison. This one is quite good, nice for an afternoon cup —Kimberly Smith
