This teapot may seem like a non-essential piece of equipment...nothing could be further from the truth! As a person who is a tea drinker, I have to say that the self extracting infusion chamber is a godsend! I've wasted too many high quality tea leaves by over steeping them. That won't happen ever again! Of course my coffee drinking friends think I'm nuts....let them think what they want! I love this teapot and think it's a requirement for any Tea Drinker! Thank you Tea Spot!!!!

Love this tea pot!! To start would have given it "5 Stars/Excellent" except slightly concerned with the durability of the top. So only time will tell.
But have to say I researched for about 2 weeks to find the perfect tea pot. This one met so many of my requirements that I didn't hesitate to grab it when I found it!!
I had been looking at cast iron pots and everyone says how they are the best for serious tea brewing. Maybe they are, but for me having a pot that I didn't have to worry about over steeping was just way more important!! And the built in timer was an even bigger bonus!! So far it has been a dream, I don't have to fish out my strainer and find a place to put it before I can even enjoy a cup. It automatically flips itself over where the tea can't come in contact with the water anymore. And I don't have to fool with carrying around a timer that I'll probably just set down and forget...It's all built in the lid!! So perfectly timed & seeped pots every time!!
Slight difficulty at 1st with getting the lid to no leak with pouring, but there is really just a trick to it. Once you discover the trick, there are no leaks at all!!
The pot itself seems very sturdy, and keeps my tea hot for as long as you would ever need about 2 cups to stay hot for!!
The infuser baskets is controlled by a little spring under the timer, it seems like it could be fragile. And if it goes the whole pot is pretty much done!! But I could just be paranoid?? Only time will tell!!
So far this is the pot of my dreams, and as far as cast iron..most are coated in enamel so they really aren't true anymore or if you get one that's not then you shouldn't brew multiple types of tea due to flavor mixing!! So all the benefits of this pot just really make way more sense to me. And it's probably the sturdiest ceramic I've ever seen.
