  • Black Tea is known to banish fatigue, stimulate mental powers, and raise energy levels. It has been shown to reduce stress hormone levels and acts as a nerve sedative, frequently relieving headaches. Black tea contains a number of vitamins considered essential for maintaining health, including Carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, has antioxidant and protective properties, Vitamin B1 and Panothenic Acid, Vitamin C and Vitamin B6.

Black Tea also contains antioxidants which may help to protect your body from the ravages of aging and environmental effects. Because they are allowed to ferment completely before drying, most black teas are especially rich in those polyphenols which have been shown to be effective against dementia in aging as well as AIDS related dementia. These compounds penetrate the blood brain barrier and have also been found to reduce blood cholesterol levels.

Black tea is known for its antiviral and antibacterial properties. It can be topically applied to cuts, bruises and burns, and is famous for its sunburn relief and has been shown to have a positive effect on preventing tooth decay and gum disease.

Smooth, delicious, really a very good tea, one of my favorites—Marlena Amalfitano
This is a good black tea for people who want caffeine without the bitterness that can come with some of the stronger/bolder teas. Stands up to my honey and milk with a good flavor and carries me through the morning. —Leigh
I tried a sample of this with my last order and was not especially impressed, nor was my wife. I've had better black teas, with more robust flavor. It's ok, but I wouldn't order it again. It was basically bland and non-descript.—Simon
This is our favorite morning tea! Nice, smooth, and flavorful. Even my kids have started drinking it in the morning.—Martina
I've only tried this iced, but I enjoy it in the summer. Mellow, nice tea!—Monica
This is just a nice tea. There isn't anything that stands out overwhelmingly about its aroma or flavor, but that's what I like about. Simple, solid, and nice.—Abby
This is by far my favorite. When brewed it may by dark, but it is not strong. It has a mild and smooth flavor. Makes a great iced tea!!—egraine
Blue Mountain Nilgirl is one of my very favorite black tea, I like to drink my cuppa with steamed milk, a bit of organic cane sugar, mmmm so good on a cold morning!! -Katie—Katie
I gave this 4 stars only because I have more of a preference for green teas, as black teas can be strong and a bit acidic. However, this one doesn't have that acidic aftertaste you get with a lot of black teas, and it has a nice smoothness and a rich flavor. Don't be confused by the copy that says it has "hints of blackberries." This is not a "fruity" tea. I tend not to like flowery, fruity teas, but I like this one. I could not taste any hints of blackberries, but perhaps because I tend to sweeten my teas slightly. In any case, I enjoyed this one.—Simon
    Smooth, easy drinking and delicious!—LMN127
This is my favorite Indian black tea. Reminiscent of good Ceylons, I use it as the base for my iced Southern sweet tea, along with organic cane sugar. —Jen
Great in the morning with steamed milk and honey. If you don't have a steamer, just pour some 2% milk in a covered jar. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Then heat in microwave just until foam starts to rise. Pour this in your tea, add honey....mmmmm!—Brigette Sumeraj
I like this tea, it is a bit light bodied but does brew up nicely. I was looking for a richer bodied tea so will try something else on my next order.—Joseph C Rogers Rogers
Completely lacking in flavor and fragrance. Not worth anyone's time or money, in my opinion.—davin speckman
I read about this tea on a blog and bought it, without a doubt, it's the best-tasting organic tea you'll ever try. Drink it every morning, with milk.—Alison Knapp
Nilgiri Blue Mountain is a perfect black tea, great for anytime of the day. It's just a little more expensive than Lipton, and definitely worth it for the quality! Organic and Fairly-traded to boot…—Diane
A nice, smooth brew... if this is any indication of the quality of the Tea Spot’s teas, I look forward to more.—Karl
I like this tea - I do - but... it's just an everyday, plain tea, much like Lipton. In fact I see no discernible difference to justify paying even a little more. No, a quality, loose-leaf tea should be markedly better than a grocery store bagged tea, so I marked this one down as three stars.—Bill Buchanan
My favorite of the four new organic teas from the TeaSpot. It's a classic black tea with tons of character. Love this new black label line!—Alexandra
