Hojicha Green Tea

Roasted & Gentle

Product Rating:

Tasting Notes:

Our hojicha (or houjicha) is roasted fresh as noted by its outstanding aroma. A traditional Japanese green tea, hojicha is naturally lower in caffeine yet more robust in flavor than most other green teas due to its roasted character. This brews into a clean, amber liquor with a warm nutty aroma. It's both soothing to drink this on cold winter days and refreshing to drink it iced.

  • Green tea is rich in powerful antioxidants, and has been known to fight viruses and slow aging. Green tea aids in weight loss, reduces "bad" cholesterol, boosts the immune system, and is also associated with the prevention of cancer. Green tea is widely used as a natural preservative in food and cosmetics. It even looks fresh and healthy! Green helps overweight people shed excess fat without side effects. It may help modulate calorie and fat burning through the sympathetic nervous system, the adrenal glands and specific nerve chemicals. Green tea shows fat-burning properties beyond those explained by its caffeine content.

This is not one of my favorite green teas. I do not like the smell or taste of coffee and this tea has the coffee bean taste - must be the Roasted Bancha. If you like coffee you'll like this - it is not as strong as coffee but you're still getting the flavor.—Gayle
My wife and I love this green tea. It has a beautiful color and great flavor. I usually steep this for five minutes and the second steep is as good as the first. We have no problem drinking this before going to bed. It's a great way to cap off the day.—Mark
This one strikes me as being very similar to twig tea, or at least close enough to it that I can't really tell the difference. If you prefer a more subtle flavor, such as a white tea, you probably won't care for this one. Yes, it's a green tea, (which is basically what white tea is, only picked "younger"), but it has a bolder flavor. I prefer an oolong to this one, but it's not bad for an occasional change of pace. —Simon
This is very delicate, and needs more tea than recommended to really get a good taste.—Tracy
Was never a big fan of green tea but this kind is a lot more robust (like it says) and the taste is awesome. Love it!—Michelle
I love the flavor of this tea, it is sooo comforting as well as satisfying—Karen L'Heureux
Super wholesome and well rounded in its flavor. And it cuts my appetite!—Mandy L
This is a great green tea! I was never crazy about green tea as I thought they were much too weak but this roasted green tea has converted me. It brews a lovely amber color with just enough robustness for a black tea lover like myself—anne delano
