Licorice Root

Sweet & Throat Soothing

Product Rating:

Blender's Notes:

This naturally sweet herbal tea, Egyptian Licorice Root is the secret to any sore throat tea. The infusion is intensely sweet and creates a viscous coat to soothe sore throats, with no resemblance to 'black licorice' or anise in taste. The name derives from a Greek word meaning 'sweet root'. Brew it on its own to create a potent sweet herbal tea with lightly salty undertones, or add a pinch to any tea of your choice to create your own throat soothing tea.

This tea is my favorite. You cant smell it, and it takes a minute before the sweetness bursts through. It's almost like drinking candy, depending how much you use and how long you steep. You can actually get two cups out of it. If you never tried this and love sweets, you have to try this. I even got my coworkers hooked on it. —oSnapMillerTime
I have an iced tea recipe to pass along. I was experimenting with herbal tea yesterday. I mixed 4 heaping tablespoons of Tea Spot peppermint to one of Licorice root in my sun tea jar. It steeped in the sun for about 5 hours yesterday afternoon and I put it in the fridge overnight. I take a half-gallon with me to work and keep a bag of ice in a cooler. I'm a wheat farmer and no matter how modern the tractor with enclosed cab you still breathe a measure of dust. The mint/Licorice root combination is soothing and snappy tasting...needs no sweetener. Cuts the dust (smile).—Scott
