Our collection of global tea represents all the traditional tea producing nations with their signature varieties. Over the past 4000 years, the tea plant spread to each of these nations, where it took on a unique form and flavor due to the regional terroir, namely the local soil quality, humidity, altitude, and temperature. Each region also developed specialized methods of processing the tea leaf to obtain a particular taste and form. Shaped by the traditions of their culture, local tea masters are still developing and perfecting regional tea around the world. Explore our collection!
Caffeine naturally occurs in the tea plant, causing all traditional teas to have a naturally occurring amount level of caffeine. Chemical processes can be used to extract most of the caffeine from tea leaves, however we do not carry these processed decaf teas. We do, however, have a variety of herbal teas that are naturally 100% caffeine free. On the other hand, other traditional teas are naturally highly caffeinated. These create a sustained buzz that won't result in the familiar unwanted "crash" that often follows coffee.
Our Matcha Green Tea is unique in that it’s made from Shizuoka green tea. Shizuoka is a major tea producing region of Japan, known for its incredible sencha teas. Our matcha tea is also uniquely processed using the SHIMA process (Super Heating In Moisture Atmosphere), a special steaming treatment that uses much higher temperatures than the traditional steaming method, before it is ground into a fine green tea powder.
This high temperature method of curing the leaves makes our matcha tea powder resilient to heat and greatly increases its ability to maintain fresh color, taste, aroma, and quality - allowing our matcha powder to maintain its quality for longer than other matcha teas.
Our matcha is perfect for traditional matcha tea preparation, as done in the Japanese tea ceremony, and can also be simply added to a water bottle and shaken with cold water for cold tea brewing. It is also great as an ingredient in popular beverages such as a green tea latte or green tea smoothie as well as green tea ice cream, green tea cookies, and other treats. It will become a staple in your kitchen at such a great price.

Green tea is rich in powerful antioxidants, and has been known to fight viruses and slow aging. Green tea aids in weight loss, reduces "bad" cholesterol, boosts the immune system, and is also associated with the prevention of cancer. Green tea is widely used as a natural preservative in food and cosmetics. It even looks fresh and healthy! Green helps overweight people shed excess fat without side effects. It may help modulate calorie and fat burning through the sympathetic nervous system, the adrenal glands and specific nerve chemicals. Green tea shows fat-burning properties beyond those explained by its caffeine content.

Author: Richard A. Kogok I was pleasantly surprised by this tea. I am used to matchas from Uji, so this matcha from Shizuoka was a nice change. I wasn't expecting such a pronounce sweetness but it was sweet with a full mouth feel which was nice and with a somewhat "chewy" finish. Afterwards I did experience umami which was very enjoyable.
Did I like this tea, yes.
Would I recommend this tea, probably not. I have to admit, there are other matchas out there that are better, especially if you are not used to preparing matcha properly or how matcha is suppose to taste. This one takes a little more effort to get the proper foam consistency. Even if you make usucha (thin tea) it's a little too thin to get the foam and if you make koicha (thick tea) it gets a little gritty with still little foam.
Author: Natalie Wren I got this tea to make my own tea lattes, and it tastes great! I'm not an expert in matcha teas, but Tea Spot's is really bright in color, smells and tastes real fresh and sweet - not bitter like some others we've tried, and is priced right too :)
Author: Angelika (Black Tie Cupcakes) Yannuzzi I just got this tea the other day,I have an online cupcake business and have an order for mini cupcakes for a Art reception,I use only high quality ingredients and this matcha green tea fits the bill,I did a test run of cupcakes and they turned out wonderful! I definitely would buy this tea again,it's worth the extra dollars to get a good product to infuse into my cupcakes!
Author: VEA i wish i liked this matcha as i ordered the 1/2 lb size based on the mostly positive reviews. Unfortunately, it does not foam well and leaves a gritty layer in the tea bowl. very different from other matcha that i have used. disappointing.
Author: Emily I first was introducted to matcha via a chain tea store in the mall. Their matcha would clump up and isn't as smooth. I love the tea spot's matcha, and will continue to order their match and other products! You can tell what good quality it is when you drink it!
