Tasting Notes:

For an invigorating wakeup, our Organic Smokejumper Ginger is the way to go. This spicy blend of lapsang souchong and ginger root jumps right out of the cup and into the morning air. Its sharp ginger highlights and smoky backbone blend perfectly into a flavor you’ve yet to experience.

The black tea base has notes of hickory smoked bacon, so you’ll either love it or leave it. With a generous portion of ginger, this exciting blend becomes warming, spicy, and feels good on your throat. Because ginger is sought out for its health benefits, we love adding it to blends like Cold Buster and Climber’s High. Paired here with a smoky black tea, it brings to life a powerful new flavor combination: sharp & smooth, stimulating & comforting, a new adventure in a single cup.

  • Black Tea is known to banish fatigue, stimulate mental powers, and raise energy levels. It has been shown to reduce stress hormone levels and acts as a nerve sedative, frequently relieving headaches. Black tea contains a number of vitamins considered essential for maintaining health, including Carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, has antioxidant and protective properties, Vitamin B1 and Panothenic Acid, Vitamin C and Vitamin B6.

Black Tea also contains antioxidants which may help to protect your body from the ravages of aging and environmental effects. Because they are allowed to ferment completely before drying, most black teas are especially rich in those polyphenols which have been shown to be effective against dementia in aging as well as AIDS related dementia. These compounds penetrate the blood brain barrier and have also been found to reduce blood cholesterol levels.

Black tea is known for its antiviral and antibacterial properties. It can be topically applied to cuts, bruises and burns, and is famous for its sunburn relief and has been shown to have a positive effect on preventing tooth decay and gum disease.

This was my first exposure to lapsang souchong and overall I enjoyed it. The lapsang has a smoky bacony taste and the ginger adds a subtle heat at the end. I expected a bit more ginger though and I liked the Russian Caravan a bit more.—Patrick
I have long known ginger was good for coughs. I first tried this tea when I had been coughing for a week with a cold. Don't know what took me so long 1 cup and my lungs felt open and tingling with oxygen. Some might find it has a hard edge but as I take mine with honey and milk it's just right. —Olivia
Lapsang Souchong is one of my favorite teas. Add the spicy ginger for perfection. Just enough bite to make it interesting.—Gloria
I love this tea for a spicy pick me up ... I mix it with a plain black tea (assam usually) to soften it. But super yummy!—Hthorn
I got a sample of this tea as a gift. I'm not a fan of lapsang souchongs, so I tried brewing it extra strong and adding it to marinades and sauces. The smoke and ginger work really well in savory dishes.—Johanna
Wake up! This tea will get you going. If you like a little smoke and are a fan of ginger, this tea is for you! LOVE IT!—Carrie
This blend is spot on if you want to drink a tea that is exotic and mysterious. It reminds me of what it would be like to ride the Oriental Express. The ginger is such a great compliment to the smoky black tea. —JulieVee
I've always been a morning coffee person, but this tea is a great replacement...or addition. —Smokey Tea
wonderful smoky flavor....what I expected. I was apprehensive about the ginger in it since I'm not a big ginger fan. But I was pleasantly surprised to find I actually enjoyed the slight ginger kick. I even enjoyed it so much, I recommended it to my wife since she enjoys ginger so much. This very well might be my go-to black tea from now on!! That's saying a lot since I definitely prefer non-flavored "true" teas!!!—Phil
I am someone who usually dislikes tea that is at all bitter, but I loved smokejumper. I add milk, and it seems to perfectly complement the smoky flavor of the tea, and the ginger turns a tea I normally don't like into an absolute treat. Warning; if you hate ginger I would steer clear of this tea, because the ginger flavor is quite strong. I would also never sweeten this tea, because the sugar will clash with the campfire-in-a-cup sensation that makes this tea great. —Jen
I love all teas from the teaspot but this one. It taste as if someone put out a fire with water and used that water to drink. Smells like smoke. And taste like it too.—Melissa Valentin
Wen I opened this tea, I knew it was for me. The first smell reminds me of taking a sauna. The smokiness is the perfect balance with the lapsang. It has a wonderful mellow smoke that lingers in your mouth and just a hint of a good burn on the way down. If you enjoy the smell of campfire, outdoors and boldness of a tea, this is for you. I absolutely enjoy this cup!—Nick Johnson
I received this as a sample after correctly answering a Tea Trivia question on Facebook. I love the smoky smell it has as you open it, and drinking it really reminds me of sitting by a wood-fire on cold winter mornings in the mountains. Though, I'm in Iowa, far away from anything resembling a mountain. Anyway, it is PERFECT to wake up with!—Lara Shema
