Our collection of global tea represents all the traditional tea producing nations with their signature varieties. Over the past 4000 years, the tea plant spread to each of these nations, where it took on a unique form and flavor due to the regional terroir, namely the local soil quality, humidity, altitude, and temperature. Each region also developed specialized methods of processing the tea leaf to obtain a particular taste and form. Caffeine naturally occurs in the tea plant, causing all traditional teas to have a naturally occurring amount level of caffeine. Chemical processes can be used to extract most of the caffeine from tea leaves, however we do not carry these processed decaf teas. We do, however, have a variety of herbal teas that are naturally 100% caffeine free. On the other hand, other traditional teas are naturally highly caffeinated. These ones create a sustained buzz that won't result in the familiar unwanted "crash" that often follows coffee.
The Steeping Cup is a stylish 3-piece tea for one set, consisting of a ceramic tea cup with infuser and lid - entirely handcrafted in porcelain. It allows you to make loose tea as easy as tea bags. Our tea cup design sits comfortably in your hands - making these cups ideal for steeping teas at lower temperatures, such as with white & green teas. The large volume infuser allows ample room for leaf teas to unfurl and release their flavor and aroma into the brew. Porcelain is the ideal steeping material because it doesn't alter the taste or aroma of the loose leaf tea, and the white glaze on the inside of every cup allows the natural color of the tea to shine. The large infuser allows plenty of room for the leaves to unfurl and I enjoy the smaller portion that thsi vessel yields... particularly with the aforementioned teas. The cup gets hot but I hold it from the top so really I find no problem with it at all. I will also get others so that my family and friends can enjoy such a fun cup and great tasting teas as i do.
Author: Michelle This little cup is perfect if you don't want to make a big pot, which is how I usually ended up wasting so much tea since I am the only tea drinker in my house. So this cup is almost perfect, just wish it had a handle. It can get a little hot on the outside, but I grab it from the top anyways so it's not a huge deal to me, but so someone else it might be.
