DIY Matcha Green Tea Mask

Matcha Mask

I’ve been itching to try a homemade matcha mask for quite some time now, and am so glad I finally did! This diy mask is incredibly easy to put together and felt supremely natural and gentle on my skin. It also smells fantastic! I do love a good natural product, and as a bonus, it’s nice to know what I’m actually putting on my skin for a change,

What you will need: one tbs matcha green tea powder, 1 tsp organic coconut oil, water.

To make, mix your matcha into the coconut oil (which is widely held to offer an array of skin benefits: anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and it’s a lovely natural moisturizer to boot). Add a few drops of water at a time, mixing well, until you have a smooth but still thick paste. Apply to your face and neck, enjoy some tea while you dry, perhaps scare a family member or two with your wicked green face, and gently remove with a warm wash cloth whenever you feel ready. While this will vary greatly by personal preference, I found this mask to be so gentle, it could be left on my very senstive skin for anywhere between 10-30 minutes.

*Easy hack!* You can certainly take just water and matcha to make an even simpler mask, however from our experience this can feel a bit “gritty” on your skin. The coconut oil here really helps smooth everything out into a lovely paste, so we highly recommend this recipe exactly as-is!

*Added bonus!* No Halloween costume inspiration this year? Toss on this mask while you pass out candy for an instant witch costume (er… at least your face will be scary). Local children will appreciate you and your skin will thank you!
