At The Tea Spot, we believe that both the product you consume and the legacy of the cup you drink it from need to uphold clean, fair and responsible manufacturing practices. We are dedicated to promoting fair labor wherever The Tea Spot’s products are made. At its core, The Tea Spot’s effort toward corporate social responsibility is about our company’s relationship with the people who manage and work in the factories that make our Steepware® products. We ensure that all of The Tea Spot’s products are produced under safe, fair, legal and humane working conditions. Equitable commerce is core to our mission and we are keenly focused on our choice of origins and manufacturers strictly reflecting our values. We have a choice—and we choose well for our planet, our health and our legacy.
Since our founding of The Tea Spot ten years ago, we have grown to become a leading producer of handcrafted whole leaf teas and the creator of the Steepware®—innovative tools that make the premium tea experience effortless and accessible.
Our commitment to blending fresh, flavorful ingredients using ancient customs produces tastes and aromas which you’ll want to enjoy every day. We bring age–old traditions to an evolved state, where exquisite flavor and great health collide in every cup. Full leaf signature blends—which we handcrafted in Boulder, Colorado—are made with carefully harvested teas. Traditionally harvested teas are more eco–friendly than machine processed teas.
Loose Leaf. Traditionally Harvested. Steeped to Perfection.
Loose Tea is an extremely eco-friendly beverage, as shown by Nigel Melican's extensive carbon footprint analysis. The carbon footprint of a cup of loose-leaf tea is, on average, about 20g CO2. That’s the energy it takes to produce and transport the tea & packaging, among other factors. In comparison, the carbon footprint of a cup of beer is 374g, a can of soda is 129g and a cup of cow's milk is about 225g, making loose tea a far better choice than any of these. Additionally, loose tea has one-tenth the carbon footprint of teabag tea. This means you (and the environment) are spared numerous carbon-intensive packing materials like nylon or paper teabags, the box, and the plastic wrap around the box. The antioxidants found in full leaf tea exhibit activity greater than that of fresh fruits and vegetables, and 20 to 30 times more potent than Vitamin C or E.
Top 5 Ways Loose Tea Reduces Your Carbon Footprint:
1. ELIMINATE WASTE: No tea bags and excess packing... No landfill...
2. REUSE: Resteep leaves for added "green" factor, value, & enjoyment!
3. COMPOST used leaves.
4. REUSE / RECYCLE metal tea tins.
5. BONUS... Resteep your tea leaves a final time to water your house plants.
